if you got a auto dont even touch the fluid. atf last a good long time anyway. if its still red you aint dead lol in other words if its still red nothing is wrong. but the other stuff should probably get changed like the diffs and transfer case.

Then why would Toyota recommend changing it at 60,000 (when towing) or 100,000 for normal use? I wonder if they'd cover you with the extended warrenty if you didn't get it done and something happened.

Just a little report i drove the truck for the first time since greasing it. It shifts a lot smoother now! Also, I used to get what felt like a lag and then jerk in the drive line when going from coasting to on the gas and that seems to have disappeared. Very happy about this since it always bothered me.

As for greasing your ball joints...........

I have a "needle" that attaches to the end of my grease gun. It's small, and extremely sharp. This allows me to grease the ball joints/tie rod ends/cv axles by simply stabbing the needle through the rubber boot, and pumping in some grease.

The hole that it leaves is tiny, and doesn't allow any grease to escape.

Seems to work well for me, and I picked the needle up at a local O'reilly store for less than $5.

Ya, I saw people talking about that in the threads I searched. I need to pick one of those up. But I've been.wondering. how does the old grease already in the boot escape to make room for the new grease?

What else can u grease with the needle?????.

Still curious as to how the old grease in the cv boots would come out when pumping them with a needle.

The old grease shouldn't come out of the boot. Also, please note that the ONLY time I add any grease to my CV boots, is if I've lost some out.

I had a clamp come loose on me, and after replacing the clamp, I added some grease with the needle. That's about the only time I would add grease to the CV boots.
