Sudden bump when I come to a stop

I thought I posted this last week but I have been gone visiting my parents and I guess my computer didn't post it.

I have a 2001 tacoma double cab and here lately when I come up to a stop light and stop I can feel something stop like a second later toward the rear end. Now when I say stop it feels more like a bump and I can feel it in the gear selector. When I coming to a stop and I can keep the veh barely moving (like rolling through a stop sign) I feel this when I take off. I know this isn't much info but its about all I know. The truck has 170,000 miles on it. Rick

Both my 1st gen's do/did that... the Toyota people told me it's normal and something to do with the drive train/mounts/etc... can't exactly remember.

Woodygg I just starting noticing this about a month ago. I have driven this truck for 75,000 miles and never felt it like now?

Probably axle wrap...search it and you'll find more than you wanted to know.

x546, axle wrap, plus probably a dry and binding slip yoke on the rear drive shaft making it more noticeable. Grease the slip yoke, and see if that makes it less obnoxious. After that, you are into helper springs or replacing leaf packs to make it go away. The stock leafs are weak.

Mine did that try pruging the universal joints with grease, that stopped mine. spoke to one of the Toy techs and he told me that's what they try first.

your best bet is to lube the entire drive shaft, I have been doing that every oil change and have not had that problem again.

I have 96K on 01 taco and it does the same thing. Has ever since Ive started driving it after inheriting it less than a year ago. Thought it was my trans or drive line so maybe Ill try the lube tech first see if that helps.

-Axle wrap. Mine started after I installed my lift. NEVER did it before. I've owned the truck since new (well, 2,900 miles...new enough) and I put the lift on at 190,000 miles and then it immediately started.
