I have just installed a double map light rear view mirror on my single cab Tacoma. My truck originally came with a single light mirror but upon examining the liner I have noticed that behind it, there are cutouts in the roof that will receive the premium mirror. Few cuts with the razor, one used double dome light mirror from ebay and some fiddling with the wires and the mirror was in. The lights work when I operate individual switches as well as when I turn on the alarm (Carr) but nothing happens when the doors are being open.
Would love ta have it fixed so any advice will be very appreciated!
    thank you
    k

    Dome light.. or map lights?

If your talking about the 2 little map lights that are above the rearview mirror, I'm pretty sure they're not connected to the door circuit that cuts the dome light on. At least my '03 non-TRD doesn't.

That being said, you could probably run a wire from your dome lights "Door" switch position to the map lights and they would turn on/off with the doors opening.

Only the light in the middle of the ceiling comes on with the doors open. The 2 map lights only come on with the switches on them.

neither did I, I don't have much experience with single cabs.

My apologies for my earlier post, you can blame my ignorance :p

Can you break out a test lamp or volt meter and make sure the "door" switch is getting power when the door is open?
