    Getting a less restrictive exhaust will cause the motor to lean out (more air out = more air in with same amount of fuel) unless the computer compensates fuel delivery. This doesn't really do much for adding power, and just causes the truck to throw codes (as the OP has noticed) because it's having to alter its fuel delivery parameters beyond what it was designed for, and it's probably sensing too much unburned fuel out the back. The only way to really add power is to dump more fuel/air into the front side of the engine, along with allowing that additional volume to get out the back (i.e. a super charger and a bigger exhaust).

    OP: Your best bet for more power is the addition of 2 to 4 more pistons...
