Recently i bought a 00 tacoma 4x4 auto with about 75k miles. Body in great condition. When i bought this truck it sat for a while because i had another vehicle to drive. I bought it because of how hard it is to find an automatic 4cyl. 4x4. I paid book value for it. Now for my issue.

I brought it to the local dealer and they said it failed. So i recieved a phone call saying that they only want to offer me kbb trade in???? NOT 150% of kbb retail????

I read the recall notice and it states either they fix it or buy it at 150% kbb.

Anyone hear of this happening ? What would you do?

When mine was recalled I received a letter (which was sent to the dealer), 2 weeks after it had failed. It stated my options and the offer amount (150% of book good condition).

Did they tell you didn't qualify under the recall for some reason if not try to contact Toyota yourself to get answers!
    Good Luck

I thought you had to own it for a year. IDK.
Did they offer you at least what you paid for it?

They said because i turned in 3 other trucks ( over 3 years) i only qualify for trade in value or i can take the truck back. So if i drive it and have an accident poss. getting serious injury they are ok with that.???

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
So you had your first one bought back, then take advantage of the situation by turning in 2 more trucks, and now you're pissed because they are on to you?

Sorry, I'm Toyota on this one.

Without knowing you, it seems to me you are trying to work the system. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm not pissed just curious if any one here has heard of this...

Each truck i owned for a year and put more than 10k miles on, basically drove them till they failed inspection.....i used the last check for a down payment on a new 4runner for the wife. So toyota got all their money back.

    Is that bad?

No, but they changed to rules now and you have had to own them for over a year or something before you get over 100%.

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
Just drive it till it falls in half...I'd do that.

Then I'd get my money..tell them you got rejected but you insisted on them..but they said no.

Probably won't work^ but shit you will get cashed out if it does lol.

Not your fault every frame was f^cked, you just a loyal Toyota owner..you should be able to get full access to what everyone else was offered...like I said, your not the one who broke the frame, who made defective frames.

Toyota should notice that you stay with them though obviously, but they are too dumb to notice that' you'll end up buying another Toyota with the check..

Ok here's what happened with toyota customer service. They said because i knew about the buyback program this or any other 95-00 trucks will not be bought back from me. I'm not upset , it is what it is. It didn't matter that i owned each truck over a year or that i bought a 2011 4runner. They are offering me kbb trade in value of about 5k. I asked for a new frame because its a nice truck with only 77k miles being 4x4 sr5 automatic. Hard to find . They said if frames where available for this truck they would replace it.

It sucks because i would rather keep it than turn it in for the 5k.

If i want to take truck i could but the liability would be on me or so they say...

Weld the frame up and keep it. Solved.
