This maybe a dumb question but i have a 2004 prerunner taco. I have access to my hood latch with the STOCK grille but if i buy a billet grille. How the hell would i get to that latch.

At least on my 07 you can pop the hood, lift it an inch or two, then reach under the lip of the hood and release the latch. Piece of cake...

Depending on the specific billet grille that's installed ...

    - same procedure as before, but maybe with more stretching
    - use a screwdriver to trip the latch (crude but effective)
    - the OEM latch can be bent to give a more accessible positioning
    - some grille kits (T Rex? I forget ...) came with a cable-type remote latch you could install in a new location
