Automatic tranny off road??

    Looking at buying a 1st Gen Tacoma as a second vehicle and plan to start doing a little off roading with it. Wife is demanding I buy an Automatic so she can drive it. How does the Auto stand up off road? I have heard that they don't do well if the tranny is submerged?
