catyletic converters

Well I just failed my emission test for the second time with a high CO reading, basically what they are saying is that there is too much unburnt fuel getting through on my 02 3.4 Tacoma. What I have discovered is that my cats are not working (both of them) we took a temperature measuring gun and scanned before and after the cats and the temp was the same going in as it was coming out, apparently its supposed to get hotter coming out. My mechanic said that I have to use Toyota cats because they are better than the average ones in order to pass my e test. Im in Toronto Canada and they are not cheap here (about 170 for 1) so Im wondering if anyone has any ideas.

 

Yeah your right that does sound cheap, wouldn't be from Toyota.

 

personally i know cats are expensive as hell

when my 90 22-re cat got stolen i had my cousins shop put in a 50$ cat and had absolutely no problems with emission (then after that they were banned from california)

as far as my 2k is concerned the minute my cats go out im dead in the water it will cost well over 1k for them here in CA

anyways my 2 cents hope u find a deal

 

That is cheap for a OEM Cat, I suggest you get it now.

 

If its law enforcements emissions test get em. If your just testing it yourself get 02 by pass sensors and leave it
