CEL P0031

Hello everyone, I am new to the forums and about to be new to Tacomas. I am planning to buy my brothers 2003 Prerunner SR5. The problem is I have to get the tags and to do that I have to get the P0031 code taken care of. I know this refers to the bank 1 o2 sensor. However my brother took it to an auto parts and they told him it could be the harness not just the sensor?

I know there are a ton of threads on here about this, I just figured it would be easier to get my knowledge all in one thread so there are no misunderstandings on my part. So here's my question, how would I know if it is the harness? And if it were the harness where in the world do I find it? I have called a couple of parts stores and no one carries it. Also I've read that Denso makes the best sensor and to order from Rock Auto that they're the cheapest. Could someone give me the correct part# so I don't order the wrong part?

The truck is a 2003 Prerunner SR5 trim and automatic. If someone could lead me in the correct direction to get this taken care of ASAP so I can get into this tacoma, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Cody.

It could also be the heater sensor relay. You can check the O2 and relay per this:

Check these first before worrying about the harness
