    Look at build!
no just the little "condoms" that were spoken of earlier, you can easily peel those off and its just simply a halogen 194 bulb

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

Or you can just get the AC cover from a 02 4runner it has no orange film on it that's what I'm doing with mine.

Doing my Mod at the moment can someone answer a couple of questions?

First off: does any one recognize this plug in? I dont remember un pluging it. And it doesnt seem to reach any thing.

Second: Before i put everything back together.... I notice that only parts of the dash are lit (see Picture) is this how it's suppose to look?

It's day time so i am wondering if it will brighten up at night..

Does any one have pics of there dash at day?

Hey the reason why only half the dash is lighting up is because the bulbs are polarity specific. Take the ones that appear to be out and just flip them around and they should come on. And I have no clue on that plug?? I do not remember any plug like that.

okay so i am trying to order everything and i just want to make sure i have everything right. I am going to a red color and i want to change ALL of the light in the truck to red. I have already done the dome light all that's left is the dash and ac panel (i don't have anything else lighting wise in my truck since its a base model :( )

so i need (take from earlier posts):
4- 194 bulbs for just the dash
2- 194 bulbs for ac controls " Some have used 2 74 bulbs for the ac" (so what is better 74 or 194?????)
1- 194 bulb for around the ignition

    -So i need 5 194's and 2 74's correct??...or...7 194's ?????...confused!
and there are also different options on which bulb type i figured the 5 SMD is what yall have said to use so i got the following parts of superbrightleds.com

"WLED-xHP5: LED T10 Wedge Base Bulb
    Options:
    WLED-RHP5: Red"

    and

    "74-xHP: Wedge Base LED Bulb
    Options:
    74-RHP: Red"

You should need 5-194s and 2-74s. I have a '99 and only needed 2-194s and 2-74s since I don't have the light around the ignition key or a tachometer. I used the exact same LEDs you have listed from superbrightleds.com. Here's how they turned out on my truck (I used blue in the dash and white in the heater/AC panel):

i have the same dash as you without the tac. so you only needed 2 194 bulbs for the dash? and where did you put the 74's? in the ac panel? we have different panels so would it be possible to use 194's in my ac panel?

Yes, you only need 2-194s for the dash if you do not have a tach. As far as the AC panel, I do not know if '97s use different bulbs or not. Here's the link to the customtaco thread I followed. It has some pretty good pictures showing where the bulbs are but it is for a '99. Post #26 on page 3 has a guy that used a 74 bulb in the ignition switch light instead of a 194. The 194s are quite a bit bigger than the 74s so maybe you should take the AC face plate off first to check which you will need.

For my 2000, I needed (4) 194 bulbs for the guages and (4) 74 bulbs (1 for the shifter, 2 for the AC, and 1 for the ignition). Only the 74-xHP3
fit, the others' base is too short and won't stay in the socket. Get everything with 360 degree beam.
