This ^^^ Seems like zip ties are harder plastic, with edges that will cause just as much, if not more damage.

Some people have had mixed results from this. Usually, the clamp ends up cutting the boot because you have to tighen it down so miuch so it will hold the boot in place. Also, a standard hose clamp doesn't fit correctly in the groove.

The original boot-slide mod involved welding a stop ring to the shaft so it keeps the small end of the boot from sliding back. The stop ring goes inside the boot. Of course, this method is a lot more complicated but it does mean that all the clamp has to do is keep grease from seeping out.

I've seen those installed on a few rigs here @ TW. I'd need to do a whole lot of reading before dropping $500 on CVs

...but that'd solve the main worry when it comes to lifting

Haha trust me, you won't break one. The only time I've heard of a boot tearing is from stuff like limbs stabbing them. Never from high angles.

Yeah, I think the main reason people don't get them is because of the sticker shock and the fact that you can go through as many autozone cv's if you want and only pay for a set. But for me personally, I don't want to have to change my cv's every year or so haha

That is true what I had to do was use 2 clamps and attach them together to make one clamp with 2 screw down points they are slimmer than just having one and clamp in 2 different spots. Has worked so far they were new cvs andyat full droop i would pull the stock clamps off this was my best bet so far so good will seenin a couple 1000 miles.

Yeah well I've already bookmarked that page. I'll keep it in mind for if my CV boot blows

I've been told if you call them they will work with you a little bit. Still worth it to me to not have to replace axles pretty much ever again.

Yeah, that's just hard to justify 1000 bucks on a set of cv axles

    Look at build!
Ive seen RCVs in action and if I were staying IFS id drop the coin in a heartbeat,, and they have lifetime warranty so even if you do break one throw in a cheap autozone till a new one comes but I believe its pretty damn hard to break them!

    They too are 1k/pair

A friend of mine bought them, and when he was talking to the company I think 2 had been broken in South America and 1 broke somewhere in Europe. Very awesome company to deal from what I've heard.

What happens after a year when the warranty is up? and there's no warranty on the boots I thought that was the real issue?
