already have a super 44 instaled right now, and then stock piping coming out the stock location. gonna chop it probably shortly after the muffler tomorrow, would like a little more grunt at idle, anybody have a chopped exhaust behind an aftermarket muffler?

Yup, Chopped after the axle with a Thrush Welded muffler.

It'll be louder than how it is now, since the exhaust willl pointing towards the ground (so the sound will resonate off that) instead of into the open air

Tons of people run it that way.

I run it that way on my 89'
My buddy runs it that way on his 91' 4Runner
My other buddy runs it that way on his 90' Ranger
My other other buddy runs it that way on his 84' 4runner

    We all run single chambers.

I have an LCE header, cat co high flow cat, and a flowmaster 40, and cutting the last 3 bends off (tail pipe was in stock position) and dumping it over the axle made a HUGE difference, much throatier during accel...but still quieter than I wanted at idle.

to be honest i think if anything i lost a little restriction. seems like it "breathes" better now. either way if it did lose any which i doubt, i cant feel it. though i do have the deck plate mod, maybe that has something to do with it....
