Does anybody know if the front seats of a 01-04 Tacoma will work in the back of a double cab in place of the bench seat? Thinking of doing this to build a sub box in the back.

RIP to my 08 Prerunner DC
I'm sure it can be done, but theres gonna be a lot of work in it. Not sure about the head room though sitting in the back I always hit my head already and it seems like buckets would lift you up even more.

Also something to think about. At least in the second gen the back window is small and with the head rests on you have very little window to see out. With those big bucket seat you will be luck to see out at all.

The front bucket seats sit much taller than the rears.

I built a custom box for a low profile 10" sub. I took out the rear upholstery liner, and cut it out to maximize the depth of my box. So basically, the box touches bare metal in the back of the cab. As a result, the seat won't fold down (driver side). The box I built ended up with about 1.25 Cu Ft. which was about the minimum for the speaker specs. Even then, I had to clearance the back of the box so the magnet would fit. It's a tight fit for sure, but less work than getting buckets to fit...

I'll try to post some pictures tonight...
