Hello everyone! I have a 97' that has a frayed driver side seat belt, wich prevents me from passing my inspection. A local shop said they can do it for $193. $105 for the part (auto wrecker) the rest is labour. Yes I know thats a lot for labour, I live at a ski resort so everything is $$$. I called toyota and they want 175 for the part, so thats a no go. Called the wrecker myself and he doesn't have any tacoma's. So my question is would another truck work like a 4runner? maybe a t1000? Tundra?

Also is replacing a belt difficult ? I am quite competent when it comes to repair work. I just dont want a big spring to pop out of the casing like a pull start motor.

    Thanks!

Don't know how to change a seat belt, there could be some pita springs or it could be very simple! I would suggest maybe pulling off some panels and just take a look to see what you would be dealing with, could be a diy because it sounds like they have a flat rate for about an hour of work to change a seatbelt which means they will prob do it faster which leads me to believe it's pretty easy, and it's highly likely that a 3rd gen 4 runner would work.
