Hi guys,I have a 98 extra cab 4x4 non trd truck oh ya 2.7 4 banger in it and i want to put a lockrite in it and am trying to figure out what size rearend i have.Is there an easy way to find out ?Toyota ran my vin and they couldn,t tell me:confused:said i would have to bring it in to see the door numbers. For seemingly a simple question there is very little info on this matter.7.5 or 8.0 ???? or i have seen people mention 8.4????? totaly confused about this. Thanks for any input.

I think it is a 7.5 but I don't know for sure. I have also been considering a lockrite for my 95 2.7. Good luck.

For some reason the toyota calls the 8 inch ring gear an 8.4 or something like that. Those are for the v6 non trd as far as i know, and i believe that the 2.7 runs a 7.5. Ask Matic, he was the no-slip and im pretty sure he has a 2.7. He basically convinced me to get it, the no slip is awesome, also check out aussie, theyre cheaper and seem to be about as good as a no slip, but im not sure if they have come out with a model for the tacoma yet.
