front oxygen sensor removal

I am trying to replace the oxygen sensor on my 2001 Tacoma V6 ExtraCab,manual trans. I finally got the nuts off the front sensor, just in front of the cat. My question is how do you find the l plug above the transmision. Where is it? I removed the console to look in the shift hole but can't reach it. Help tiobob

 

It was right by the sensor for me. Right under the truck. Just trace the wire to the closest connector.

There was one write up about taking out the center counsel to get to the connector so it might be different for you.

 

I just replaced this on my 2001 V6 xtra cab a/t. Not sure if it makes a difference, but it is officially an Air/Fuel sensor, not an O2 sensor - but they look identical. My plug was only about 8" away from the sensor itself and very easy to access. In no way did I have to get close to going through the console. Perhaps it is different on the manual transmission equipped vehicles?
