    96 4x4. does the front diff have to come out to replace the oil pan gasket? if so what all is invovled in it.

    Christ man, this thread is seven years old. Haha.

    I’ve never dropped the oil pan, but my transmission pan was sealed together with Toyota FIPG (Formed-in-Place Gasket).

    Yea the differential has to come out. Which means hubs ..axles, brakes, then diff.

    OME and worth every penny.
    I think I've read where someone did the job by lifting the engine and disconnecting from transmission but it looked to be more difficult than dropping the diff.
