Cylinder 4 does not have a coil. Only 1, 3, and 5 do. Do you mean swap #2 and #4?

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
swap the coil that powers cylinder 4 to a cylinder that is on a seperate circuit from cylinder 4 and it's partner cylinder...so whatever cylinder..on either bank..just make sure that

    UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED!

So after talking to a Toyota tech, he told to check the old spark plug for signs of scaring. The old spark plug was scarred and rusty looking so he said just replace the plug wire. Code hasnt come on and she runs great!

Thanks for all the help guys!

good work! it feels good when you can track down issues like this. sometimes it's the simple little things and other times it's a big headache. i'm glad yours is the former.

Im getting this funny burning smell when ever i park. I wonder if its just the cat burning off the unburnt fuel. Kinda smells like clutch or burnt rubber

I know you said you fixed this but i had the same problem except on cylinder 5 it turned out to be the fuel injector.

It depends how your plug and wires look. If they look good then its Probly the investors. In my case the wires looked bad so i changed them and i haven't had any issues since

yeah all my wires/plugs are new i seafoamed the gas tank. i think something in the fuel tank or line clogged that injector and caused the malfunction

My truck was having the same problem with a misfire on cylinder 4. I replaced the plugs and wires today with all OEM Toyota parts and seemed to run fine for a little bit but now it is doing the same thing. Just on the way home it started running rough half of the time and then all of sudden it started running fine. Do you guys think it could be a bad coil pack?

Sounds like a bad coil pack. Swap the coil packs and see if it changes cylinder

I swapped the coil packs and I am still getting a cylinder 4 misfire. What else could it be? An injector maybe?

Hmm, maybe the injector. Make sure everything is plugged in and tight. Sometimes the plug wires can be loose.
