Was it cheap steel that cause premature frame failure in states where they use alot of salt in the winter, and were 4 Runners also effected?

combo of bad coating like whippersnapper said, and the salt in the northern states.

Down south, where we dont see snow or ice (duh) there is no problem. My truck's frame has some surface rust in a few areas where the coating has been rubbed off, but that is it. And its a 97.
