95 2WD lift inquiry
I drive a basic 95 Tac. 2WD 4 cyl. 2.4 (I Think). I plan to put some new wheels and tires on my truck in order to make it look more like a, well, truck. I want to put at least a 2", but nothing more than a 3" lift on it. I have been searching on the forum, and have found a great bit of information, but nothing specifically relating my truck. The Tacoma Lift FAQ/ Guide is outstanding, but I'm still clueless about what I need for my truck. Here's a picture of my truck, and the tires and wheels I plan to get.
![]() ![]() ![]() I read about the ready lift's, but I don't think it'll go on my truck. What all do I need for this lift? I won't be doing any serious off-roading, so this is more for esthetic's. I also need something for my alignment too. The wheels will be 15's, and I'll figure out the tire size. I also assume that fender flares are pretty standard. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if this has been discussed before and I just overlooked it. |

Hey man welcome to TacomaWorld!! Its nice to see another mini 5lugger around! With your lift, I believe Fabtec still makes a 6in lift, but if you are looking for a 2-3" lift, go with coil spacers and shackles. Check out www.customtacos.com there are a lot of knowledgeable guys there when it comes to our trucks!

I would look into toytec lifts, they are great you can call them and they'll have the answers. Welcome to TW sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

You could look into a fabtech spindle lift for the front and a rear AAL for the rear, spindle lifts usually lift it about 3 inches

Welcome to Tacoma World!!!
There are a bunch of lifts for the 5 luggers. Spindle lifts are pretty popular.

Outstanding! Thanks for the help gentlemen. I will update this thread when I make my mods. I don't know why I didn't join a Tacoma forum earlier. I'm on a forum for my motorcycle, and now I know more about my motorcycle than I ever thought I would. I expect the same for my truck as well. O yeah, I just rolled over 80k miles on my truck, and for a 95 that's not too shabby. Thanks again for the info.
http://www.ultimateautoaccessories.c.../LKS/FTS4130-7 This is a website I found that seems to come with everything that I need. It comes with a Fabtech 3 in lift spindle, F&R shocks, and a 1.5" AAL kit for $650. Opinions are welcomed. It's pricey, but it's the best I've found thus far. The Toytec lifts don't fit 5-lug trucks. |

I thought aboutt he same thing. But I was looking for more 6 inch to 9 inch lifts.
I never did anything. What Found out was serious off roads hate Fab tech. Maybe thing break more if you try and drive really hard off road. Here is 1 thread from this site I made. nothing really new here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/sus...-packages.html Here is a thread from another web forum. http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113429 THis is just to help with research. The only place I know has great part si Downey Off Road http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Suspen...s/1995-04.html But this kits are pricy.. Well good luck. i am not trying to sway you at all, just showing all the option. If I had to pick right now, I think I would take the least costly route, as I think I want an off road look for the street driving.. |

I appreciate the info, and keep it coming. After this thread is done with it'll be the one stop research source for anyone with 5 lugs looking for all available options on a lift kit. Right now I'm liking the Downey Off-road site. I've seen some good feedback on them, and maybe buying piece by piece I'll be able to save some money.
As of right now I'm only looking for the minimum I need to just get my truck off the ground so I can put some new wheels and tires on it. I might play around in the mud a little, but my truck is my primary means of transportation. I have a car and a motorcycle as a backup, but I mainly drive my truck. So, if I can just add some springs to the front and an AAL to the rear and get away with it, then that's what I'll do for now. I'll save the major off-road adventures for later. Thanks again for pointing me in the right directions. |

Great post!
I'm looking at picking up a '97 2WD, but I want the stance of a 4WD. Will a front suspension spacer and rear shackles achieve this, or should I just go with the FabTec kit? I was hoping to run BFG 30/9.5R15. With the 2001+ 2WD SR5's, they stand like a 4WD. What is done to them? Thanks! |

^Thanks for the welcome!
I'm thinking about putting those BFG's in a set of '05 5-lug Tacoma wheels. Will they fit a '95.5-2000? Thanks in advance. |
