Rear Lift

I have heard of people taking the rear leaf packs on the tacoma and flipping them over to add lift. is this a safe alternative or even possible

 

If you could, it would lower the truck...? Makes no sense to me

 

Maybe he's referring to the overload spring?

yea...i think he is talking about the overload spring. Not recommended and i bet it would ride like shit seeing as to how thick the thing is. It won't flex. Just get an AAL. Wheelers only costs 77 bucks.

 

Is he referring to a spring over conversion? I'm not sure about Gen1 trucks.....but does the axle sit "on" the leaf packs or do the leaf packs sit on top of the axle?

Well that eliminates a spring over conversion then.

 

5 lugs are SUA and I considered flipping mine for lift but decided against it... But the OP lists a 4X4 so his axle is sprung over.

I would also suggest shackles, OP. They give lift without stiffening the ride and allow for more flex. It's what I have in the rear of mine.
