Has anyone tried this?

We all know that changing the oil filters on a 3.4 can be messy, has anyone punched a hole in the filter first to get rid of the vacuum and hopefully drain most of the oil in the filter back into the engine?

 

Just a question. I can understand getting rid of the vacuum. But do you really want the contaminated oil that's in the filter back into the motor?

 

Just get a filter relocation kit it its that annoying

 

When we got our 03 (used) I had to pound a screwdriver through the filter to remove it. The filter wrench just crunched it like when you squeeze an empty "beverage" can with your hand. The person who put it on there must have been a gorilla. Have not had that problem since. Didn't really think about draining contaminated oil back into the block.

 

Not really draining contaminated oil back into the block, in theory the oil from the filter would drain into the pan then I would drain the pan. I haven't really found a good filter relocation kit, any recommendations?

 

2 liter bottle.....

Cut the bottle off about 5" below the cap. It's squeezes under there easily and you can drop the filter in it and remove. No mess

And no...I never put oil back in.

You mean below the cap don't ya?

 

Yeah....I was thinking of using it (being upside down).
