any of you guys that are thinking of doing sas or have done it, thought of doing a fj80 up front and just running the stock coils?

Been done plenty of times. Check over on TTORA or Pirate and you'll find plenty of builds running 80 front axles.

One thing you need to consider with FJ80 axles (at least the front) is the steering. The factory tie rod runs behind the axle and could mean clearance issues with your oil pan and other items like control arms. There are hi-steer arms out there from Slee Offroad and maybe some others that replace the steering arms and move the tie-rod in front of the axle like most other setups. Nice way to go but the arms are expensive.
