Would the taco be able to withstand around 500 lbs in the box... I gotta move a safe.

yes, but you need to really strap it down. If you got into a wreck and that thing slid forward you would be in serious trouble

I regularly haul over 1000 lbs - no problem. Any truck should be good for 500 lbs.
