Well today, I tried to change the little light (for the ignition) (key).

I unbolted the panel that goes under the ignition area and then the little black plastic cover where the key goes (the clock is right next to it).

Well, I looked and looked.....and I could find the bulb. I think someone mention a 194 bulb but, I could find any bulb to replace....

Has anyone ever done this before?

    Thanks.............:)

^ old thread I know

I have the ign. key light in muh '00 (w "SR5 package")

haven't had a look at it yet

Did anyone ever look to see what lights up the ign. key ring.
is it a separate bulb or built into the ring surrounding ?

I'm actually more curious in knowing if it could be
tied into and used to power some footwell LED's.

I like how the light comes on when the doors are opened
and how it delays slightly when they're closed.

    Anyone ever done this ?

and possibly traced the the wire leading to the door pin switch !?
    ^ can't hurt to ask 1st :rolleyes::p

I replaced mine with a blue led pics above^ its just a clear ring with a little hole for the light socket to clip into, just like the ash tray light. Id imagine you could tap into it if you wanted cause I took my ashtray light and spliced my 4wd actuator to it

Don't have one in my 99 SR5 4x4. I have a 1998 Tacoma brochure that does not mention it. It does mention an optional 'lighting package'.

On my 2003 Taco Double Cab SR5/TRD (with factory keyless entry system), I do not seem to have the ignition light ring on my truck even though I have an ash tray light and glove box light (both bulbs burned out).

I just seem to have a rubber ring that I can remove.

Here are my burned out ashtray and glove box bulbs that I may replace with LEDs.
