Look under it real well for rust. I went to look at a couple and walked off once or twice because of rust. Other than that, it looks really clean.

If its a clean truck with little to no frame rust and well maintained, you won't be disappointed with it! My 03 never let me down!

Fog lights, back-up camera, TRD cat-back exhaust, towing package, int. wiper stalk, Weathertech floor liners, color-matched the front bumper and grille, TSB leaf packs, Front Bilstein 5100's at 0", Eibach/Toytec coils (approx 1.25" front lift - sits almost level), rear Bilstein 5100's.
Nice looking truck - makes me miss my old '98 a bit; put almost 300k on that one. Only ever had to replace a windshield, and some of the emergency brake parts due to all the salt on the roads during winter up here. To echo what others have said - If it drives good, has been maintained, the tires aren't crappy, and there's minimal rust, I'd be tempted if I were you...

Price strikes me as about right, maybe a little high... but, these do hold their value well.

Went to see the truck today. Here is the rundown:

    Tires = new
Rust = minimal, frame looks nice
Dents = two small ones in the tailgate, front bumper left side has a small dent.
Paint = a little dull, might buff out to shiny.

    Driving impressions:

    Truck starts quickly, idles smooth.

Check engine light is on and owner says it is an exhaust sensor that senses outgoing air/fuel mixture/burn.

Transmission is noisy. Manual trans that whines in most gears. 4th is quite but the others make a whining noise. Owner has owned truck from 32,000 miles and says it has done it the entire time he has owned it. He has had it checked and technician said it may run forever making noise and not breakdown, but then again maybe not. Truck now has 157,000 miles.

Clutch spring is noisy also. Is there a fix for this? Makes noise when pushing or releasing pedal.

Clutch releases right on the floor. As soon as you start releasing the pedal, the clutch grabs. Is this normal? I drove a 99 standard and it released very high at the end of the pedal travel.

I really liked the truck. This guy is the second owner and has owned the truck since 32,000 miles. No wrecks just the fender bender that caused the dent on the front bumper.

I am worried about the tranny. What does the whining noise mean? Would it really run for 125,000 miles making that noise with no problem?

Again, thanks guys for any feedback/comments.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
-$2,500 for the trans and clutch and $1,000 to fix the exhaust. I'd offer him $6,500 but be willing to go 7 or walk away. IMO

When i bought my 03 (which is identical to the one your looking at) the tranny also whined, but only in 4th and 5th. It had 81,000 miles. First thing i did when i bought it was change ALL fluids. I used Redline Sythetic MT-90 for the tranny and transfer case and noticed the whine to be slowly digressing. After about 3,000 miles with the REdline the whine was completely gone. Not sure what it meant, but it's worth considering.
