Check engine light trouble. tps.

My check engine light keeps going on and off. I had autozone check it and they said it came up as throttle position sensor but the guy said it may just be a vacuum leak/loose hose. Does anyone know if a loose hose would cause my check engine light to read throttle position sensor? I just wanted to check if someone can confirm before I go thru all my hoses. And has anyone else had this problem?

Did vatozone tell you what code? There are rubber vacuum lines coming off the Throttle body that could be causing a problem. Not sure what code they would throw out though.

You'll find the service manual here. Scrowl down to your model. I believe there are two codes for
throttle position sensor.

If the computer says its a throttle position sensor it's probably the throttle position sensor. Ask yourself who's smarter a computer or a guy at autozone

the code is p0120. its a throttle position sensor/throttle pedal position sensor circuit A. I tried to remove the sensor because the manager at autozone said he would test it for me and in the process stripped both screws and didnt even loosin it... soooo... im f'd. i read on another tacoma site some1 had a similar problem and simply unpluged the sensor and cleaned it and it remained fine but he only updated it a few days after. mine will stay off for a few days after its been cleared.

Those back out tools they sale for drills to remove stripped screws work really good so you're not that f'd, just chill take a deep breath and you can get the screws out.
