    I didnt get it quite flush, it is maybe an inch or so shy of being at hood level, but it`s working well, stomp it and you can hear it and feel it responding

    If I get a chance tomorrow I will try to get some pics

    It is worth the effort, as I said it does not take long to do the mod and if you dont like the way it turns out, you can remove it before bolting the sides on and sealing the cracks up around the edges

    This mod vs CAI, 200 bucks or more saved

    It sounds like a awesome Idea!! I'm most likely going to do it.

    It helps a lot. Its easier for it to get air and it allows it to get more air for mmore horsepower. Like a Turbo all it does is forces air into you engine which gives you more horsepower. As foe the dirt and debree the filter takes care of that.

    Yeah, not a turbo. The deckplate is the only mod short of an s/c to demonstrate on a dyno a tiny bit (I think maybe 8hp if you're lucky) of power. But you need to close it in dusty conditions, because you'll just clog the filter. One of the most effective power "mods" you can do is put in a clean stock air filter.

    Not saying it was just like a Turbo. It was an example. I was saying more air more power....

    You seem to be happy with the stock setup and thats all good

    Pull up next to one with a few intake and exhaust mods and see if you are still just as happy

    The mod that I explained here is a replacement for the people that WANT to buy a CAI, there are people that dont care to bother with it and thats cool

    Some people like to tinker just to see if they get any gains, if they do they`re happy, if they dont they try other things

    Bad analogy:

    Turbo=forced induction

    "CAI"=loud noise maker that sucks in dirt

    I had a CAI in my truck, it was neat when I was 16. I ripped that bitch out and went from 14mpg to 20mpg.

    Plus my oil went from gold to pitch black in a 1000 miles w/ the "CAI" The cotton gauze filters are way too porous. Best filter for keeping your motor alive is the stock paper denso filter, or a paper filter like the purolator pure one.

    CAI's are a scam. Your stock system is more of a cold air intake because it sucks cool air from the inside of the fender instead of sucking hot air in the engine bay.
