Just replaced mine. Passenger side was easy, but the drivers side was giving me problems. The quater glass did not open for room to punch out the pin out with a hammer and punch like in the youtube video. I did not want to force it and wined up breaking the glass or hinges it was attached to. Due to the lack of room I had to punch the pin out from hinge arm from the top instead of the bottom. Finally after getting the pins out and reassembly, I noticed the latch does not lock in place. I'm still able to push it open with my hand.

What happened is the aluminum arm that's connected to the truck probably got bent outwards a little while you were working on it. No need to take it back apart, just open the window, then grab that arm and give it a couple of tugs inward. Its soft aluminum and bends easily, so be careful!

Its also possible the pivot was installed backwards.

Let us know how it goes!

I too have the same issue. At first it was because I installed it backwards but now it seems it still won't lock. I'll give the tugging the arm thing a shot.

    Parts received and installed.

FWIW, I used a motorcycle chain breaker to extract the pins, which made it very easy, with no resulting stress on the latch arm that easily bends, nor any need to remove the latch from the window glass. For three of the four pins, I didn't even need to put a wrench to the chain tool - the pins aren't in there very tight. The pins reinstalled very easily with a pair of channel locks.

Thanks JJ - great product and service.

Bought a pair for my recently purchased 2001. Every Xtra Cab I looked at before I bought the 2001 had broken latches.

I did not like the idea of hitting on the black arm that is bolted to the body with a hammer and punch to remove that pin. I thought the arm was made out of plastic - but it is some sort of metal that does not stick to a magnet. I also thought of a chain breaker to push out the pins, but the only one available to me was for bicycles and it was too small.

So I cut a nail and with a smooth jaw plier pushed the pins out far enough to remove the broken plastic dog bone. I did have to enlarge one of the holes with a 3/16" drill bit on the replacement dog bone because the latch pin was too tight for the hole. The other hole on the opposite side of the dog bone fit the pin on the black arm just fine.

Doing it this way you do not need to remove the latch from the glass. And, since you are not hitting on the black arm it's position will not change. Both quarter windows open and close just fine.

got mine last week. install was really easy and does the job. i found spraying just a small amount of lithium grease inside the new piece holes before putting the pins back in made the install go a lot faster.
