I just got it, had to fight for it (4cyl 2.4 manual), and hope I did not get a lemon. Compression came back: 150, 145 x3, (which now sounds a bit suspicious)

But anyway, engine is a bit rough on idle, nothing too bad, and was wondering if I should sea-foam it, or maybe just do some in the engine and crankcase to be on the safe side? (not cylinders)

Also, I want to check the plug wires, what is the normal Ohm reading on these?

Clean the throttle body. New plugs wouldn't hurt either.

I have seafoamed my engine twice now. I have read good and bad about doing it. I can tell a huge deference in how much smoother it idles and runs, but on the flip side i have put on new plugs and new wires at the sametime so idk how much the seafoam actually did.
I would vote new plugs and new wires.
With 180k the wires unless they have been replaced are probably tired and new ones around here were like 30$.
Then if this doesnt help maybe try seafoam.

    Just my $0.02 worth!
    Good luck.

Ok, thanks- its fuel injected, so where else would you do it? Maybe just gas tank to clean lines, injectors? Maybe get it in the injectors direct?

Also, I used to use a straw with tape to start out the plugs (so they dont strip the hole) Is there a tool that one can buy to do this with? Or am I just going to make one? I guess I could tape 2 straws together.

    No on the seafoam IMO.

Check plugs, my truck had the originals at 150k and was idling kinda rough. Changing them made a world of difference.

Ok, it looks like plugs were changed at 155,000 (178,00 now) -cost only $19.00, so maybe not great plugs, but only 20,000 on them. I will go with NKG plugwires, but I would like to test the ohms first. What should the ohms be, I've read 25,000?
Now, it seems to run fine on startup, 1000rpm, but when it slows to 750, it starts to rumble and the steering wheel shakes a bit. Is that normal for just plug wires?

No distributer, just 2 boxes where the wires go, how do I unhook them, looks like a clip of some sort? I think Ill upload some pics.:)
