Cooling system rebuild questions

Just purchased a new aisin water pump, koyo radiator, oem tstat. While I'm in there I'd like to take care of some oil leaks. Oil pan is a must. Gonna use toyota fipg for that. Anyone ever done this? Any tricks to removing the oil pan? What else should I do while I'm at it. The truck is a 2.7 with 160k on the clock.

 

Timing chain on mine looked really good. The guides were barely worn, but the chains stretch over time. It might not be a bad idea to change it. Hoses are also a good idea.

 

From what I understand you have to pull the head to replace the timing chain on this engine, which I would rather not do. I'll check the fsm though.

The cover gasket. may need to be replaced at least. It can leak over time.

 

Thanks. I'm sure once I get started it will snowball. I just want to do as much as I can while I have the chance.
