Mag Lite Mount Position

I've searched and I have yet to find someone who mounted their Mag Lite in this spot
I was wondering if it was a good spot before I drilled the holes so that I don't hit anything important. I'm pretty sure I won't but it never hurts to double check.

I was wondering since i'm going through the metal, i wanted to know if there is anything close enough to be messed up if i accidentally hit it

 

You shouldn't hit anything. My thought would be that you might hit it with your leg alot tho.

 

i've mocked it up and i'm able to clear it. got those chicken legs

 

I would think that's a dangerous spot o seeing that if it dislodges from the mount it ends up in your driver's foot well... possibly under the pedals, etc...

 

good point. I originally wanted to mount it on the other side but it would be in the way of the extendable cup holder on that side. I would like it within arms reach but if i can't find a suitable place, i'll mount it in the back under one of the seats

 

I prefer the other side. There is the off chance that you bump it either off-road or on the street and the flashlight could get lodged under the brake or gas pedal and cause an accident. I'd go for the passenger side. Oh, and this is easily within arms reach. Very easy to get to.

Not sure what your cup holders look like, but could you make a bracket that extend beyond the cup holders? I agree with the posts above that you want to keep the light away from your foot well area.

 

consider mounting it to the channel (under the carpet) where the passenger seat mounts to up front - I think you can mount it low enough that the seat will clear, you won't have to worry about accidently screwing into something, and it won't interfer with the almighty cupholder

 

I to bought the mags mounts but after trying to mount it "out of the way" I can't seem to find a spot so I just put the mag in the cup holder on the door

 

i can throw a pic up of the cup holder when i get a chance. I'm at the stealership right now getting the 5,000 mile check up. I was thinking of just cutting off the cup holders as no one rides in my truck ever so they're there to hold trash right now

i think i've decided i'll mount it on the passenger side below the extendable cup holder

 

Check the roofline above the driver's door under the headliner.

I don't know about the '95 and later, but in the '94 and earlier, there were two threaded bungs already there. The design was to mount the passenger grab handle on the right-hand-drive vehicles... that way the production line stocked the same cab shell parts for both right and left hand drive trucks.

So all I had to do was punch the headliner and thread the Maglights mounts onto the roof.
Convenient, easy access with either hand, but it was up high and away from prying eyes.

My '95 Suburban had a similar arrangement.
