CV's leaking!!!

I went out today in the snow, had a little fun. Then when I got home I decided to check my CV boots. And they are leaking, well the inner one's are. It's not too bad right now, but I was wondering Is it ok If I let it go for a little while, or should I get them replaced right away?

 

Does it make a clicking sound when you are turning?

 

no, I didnt hear anything.

 

Is the boot Torn? or is it just seeping alittle on the skinny end of the boot?

 

Its just seaping from the skinny end, where the clamp is.

 

I wouldn't worry about it for now.

K, but I have new one's, and will be having them put on as soon as I can.

 

Did you buy the high angle cv boots? good thing to upgrade to if your lifted

 

Really I would hold off for a while. If it is only leaking from there then really there is no rush. Look at Chevy S-10's I don't think there is one of them running around with all of the cv boots intact. I usually only worry when they start clicking.

Yeah, I did. I was ganna put them on this summer, now Im wishing I had. lol.. Im sure it wont hurt anything for now.

 

k, I wont worry... Or try to worry about it. But I think it would be good to put my new high angle one's on before they start clicking. That way I never have to worry about them!

 

true, if you already have them.

 

mine just started leaking too. do you have a 2 1/2 inch lift like me? cause a lift like that will cause the inner boots to streatch longer making it leak out the clamps. just two days ago i replaced them and what a job that was. getting them out wasnt too bad but disasembling the axles was kind of hard. but yeah it shouldnt be a problem until you really start to see it slinging all around.

 

Yeah, It started to sling around. I got a 3" lift with a 1" diff. drop. I will be replace mine as soon as I can. I dont want to start having problems.

 

oh i dont have a diff drop but im thinking about it. But it would be a good thing to get done soon. and especially if you offroad so you dont get dirt in them.

 

Yeah, thats the good thing, I dont offroad, But it did snow so I had to use it, thats what made me think of the CV's. So I looked, and found a nice surprice!

 

im sure you can go many more miles before you need boots but when you do look into boots from cvunlimited.com. these are high angle cv boots made for lifted trucks. i put them on my truck the only problem was i had to replace the inner clamp they put in the kit cause it didnt fit.
