What's your 1st gen v6 temp?

I was just wondering what your temperature needle reads on your V6 1st Gens once you're at operating/idle temp?



The picture shows my temp needle on my 98. My needle consistently hangs strong at dead center, but every other vehicle/truck I've ever owned has had the temp needle just slightly below center.

So my question is: Is my needle location normal?

If you could check you 1st gen's (I have a 98 v6 4x4), and tell me what your temp gauges look like, I'd really appreciate it.

Mine is dead set in the middle. With the Ultragauge, it is reading about 208-212F.

Glad to hear it's normal.

I'm at 178k now. Almost time to redo the timing belt. Figured I'd do the water pump and radiator flush at the same time. Maybe a thermostat?

Mine is also always at dead center. Have not even noticed it going up even when going up large, steep inclines.

you can always buy one of them temp gauge but get a pod :x or your gonna have to cut a hole somewhere to mount it

its the same on mine, and listen the gauges that come from the factory and its just about the same with all auto makers are just BASIC. and with time and wear and people would be surprised with the crud that can accumulate at the gauge sensors, they lose accuracy. they would still let you know if the oil low or running hot, just not not pin point.
and as for the cooling system, that is my plans for tomorrow. they changed the belt, water pump 3 month before i got her, but i am changing all the hoses, clamps, thermostat (toyota one) and 8 gallons of distilled water and a flush kit. and really if I am not happy with the way the radiator looks or what comes out, then before it get warm its going to be replaced, its not hard or expensive.

00 Runs dead at center unless I'm in traffic thin it might move a centimeter or two ha but mine runs at 198+- a couple on my ultra gauge
