3" lift + 33" tires, 4.56 or 4.88?

    Hi, this is my second post. I have a 2003 4x4 DC A/T sr5 (4.10 gear I guess). I want to know wich will be the best gearing to get back the stock acceleration with 33" tires, if 4.56 or 4.88, without sacrifice the cruising travel (keeping lows RPM at 65-70MPH) thanks for any help.

    Don't regear. If you go up one more size than maybe. I can still get 19 on the flat highway with a pussy foot.

    all pro lift, 33s, home made sliders, bumpers, skids
    Depends on what you do. If your truck is just a DD and maybe go camping with or you like some mud puddles it I wouldn't waste the money. If you actually want better off road performance regear.

    And if you are going for performance. go with 4.88's instead of 4.56's. It will only be a slight rpm increase at highway speeds but when on the trail crawling you'll be happier

    I have a 3" lift with 33's and I have decided to go with 4.88's when I regear. I pull a trailer with mine alot and it struggles with the stock 4.10's. Plus the torque will be nice offroad lol.

    OP has a 1st gen. There's a big difference with 33's with a 3.4 and 33's with the 4.0.

    OP, if you have the 3.4 I'd suggest 4.56's. If you have the 2.7, then 4.88's. I have 4.56's and it's quite honestly my second most favorite mod I've done to my truck.

    I pulled both my 3rd members and dropped them off to my diff guy. I payed $800 parts and labor for both front and rear.

    As for the RPM's, IDK, I don't really pay attention to that.

    I have 3.91's in my 99 tacoma 4x4 with 33-10.5-17r i drive about 80 miles every few months and will be driving 800 miles in about a year. what would y'all suggest?

    You will be fine. I have a buddy whose got a 04 tacoma with 4.10 gears and is running 33" tires. He has no problems whatsoever... His gas mileage probably sucks...

    I'm running 305/70s and my gas mileage has dropped to an average of 13.5 mpg. I'm going to regear and go with 4.88s. But then again I plan on going up to 35's eventually.

    If your going through the trouble of regearing go with 4.88. They will be just fine with the 33's and also gives you the option to go to 35's down the road.

    I'm getting about 13.5mpg with my 4.10's but I don't baby the truck at all. I don't really pay much attention to my rpms but I want to say that they run about 26-2700 at 70mph.
