96 tacoma suspension questions

i have a 96 4x4 tacoma regular cab. i want some lift (about 3 in) and iv been looking relentlessley for a lift system that doesnt hurt my wallet too much. i know that spacers are bad for serious off roading, but will they really be aa life or death anoyance if the only off roading was for getting me on and off the hunting woods?
