My 99 tacoma has a rear main oil seal leak. (i think) Is there anybody that has recomendations on how to go around doing this or any suggestions on how to do this more smoothly? I've found out i basically have to take down the entire front drivetrain and the oil pan along with basically taking out the Crankshaft in order to even replace this seal. [IMG][/IMG]

Here look at this, you do have to take out the transmission, but that is about it.

Well yeah...if your engine is not in the truck then you wouldn't have to remove the transmission.

I've pulled my transmission...and motor. It's going to take you more than 2 hours my friend.
If you don't have a transmission jack, invest in one. It will save you a shitload of frustration.
Drain tranny.
Pull starter
Ubolt and remove the cat for some extra wiggle room.
Remove the crossmember and lower transmission to gain access to top bolts of transmisison
Drop the tranny and transfer case as one unit.

Like I said, I've done both, so I know what's involved.
You asked for recomendations/tips and I gave you some from experience.
Good luck padawan.
