Topped off the gas in my new to me 02 Tacoma 2.7 the other day & did not know I was NOT supposed to top off the tank. Result was fuel overflowed into the evap canister I think.

Check engine light is now on. Ran the codes & got P0440, P0441, P0446

If I can't get the light to reset & stay off I'm looking at having to drop the tank & replace the evap vapor canister. Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 7774004010, VC4056

Seeing as this is a $300 part, my question is, is this the same canister on other 2.7 engines like a corolla, or similar that I can get second hand from a scrap yard?

According to RockAuto.com, it has to come from a 02-04 Tacoma.

Dealing with this issue right now. How did you resolve this? I'm having some issues with part numbers. I called toyota and the part they said i needed is $600 dollars, but the part number they issued me returns absolutely nothing on a google search or a part search through toyota. Any help would be much obliged as I need to pass emissions and I've already been ticketed for driving around rejected :(

Thanks for reply Mush Mouse. Turned out the part # Toyota gave me was wrong and the cheaper part was actually the correct one. Of course that was after I called them three times to recheck the part by VIN and then got sick of the run around, pulled the bed (you're right - way easier) and brought the part to their faces. I passed emissions! Unrelated: I think I need a new alternator...
