Looking for the one that allows you to flip the spare tire over so you can fill it up with air much easier.

I'm only coming across the DIY mod for 2nd gens

Is this possible for 1st gens?

Okay, so my lazy/dumb ass just went out there, lowered the spare, turned it over, and raised it back up... now with the valve stem facing down (and easily accessed).

It's as snug as it was turned the other way.

Can anyone tell me why this may be a bad idea?

I just flipped mine over and cranked it back up. It's on there tight i don't know if that was wrong but it worked

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
hey I forgot to tell you, learned this a long time ago dealing with fords....
try to keep the cord, and the crank lubbed when you raise the spare up and down, to keep it in good condition. don't want that thing to be frozen since usually you only get a flat in the worst possible conditions... winter or off roading!~
and my uncle was a bastard about this, when you rotate tires get the spare down and rotate it in.

ARB Front bumper. Custom rear bumper. ARB snorkel. 883s 90004s. 1 inch daystar body mounts lift. Full skids. Leather seats.
When offroading you could tear the valve stem, I think it would be unlikly though.

Thanks for the advice. However I can't rotate it in because it's an entirely different tire than what I'm running.

Good call. I doubt it too, but would hate to find out the wrong way. Wonder if my welder friend can fab some kind of insert for the rim?
