How much is my truck worth?

Guys,Thinking about selling my truck.How much do you think I could get for it?It is a 1996 Tacoma 4x4 standard cab,auto,air,and nice cd player,I had it painted because of paint fade,frame is rust free,It has 31 inch bfg with chorme bullet hole wheels and the inside is 8 out of 10 cond.,Everything works and has always been serviced,It has 105k orginal miles,I bought it from a neighbor who only drove twice a week,it runs and drives great,I would rate the whole truck a 8 out of 10.

 

In premium condition, I'd think about $5,500. That's absolutely cherry tho, most cars/trucks don't fall into that category.

8/10, probably $5k. Is it a v6 or 4-banger?

It will go for more than KBB value, Im in east tennessee and sold my 95 a few months back for $5200 and it wasnt near the shape yours is. Id say you could get $5500 pretty easy.

 

Where in NC exactly do you live?

I've looked at www.kbb.com, www.edmunds.com, motortrend, also attempted to get to the NADA black book, and I'm more confused than ever...

Have you had the timing belt and water pump changed out which is recommended at between 90 - 100K miles?

How about the belts and hoses when were they last changed out?

These are things a potential buyer will want to know.

Between the various websites and craigslist you can determine what the going price should be IF you want to sell it and how much time to accomplish this.

Tacoma's are a one of a kind truck that you can take care of and put money into and drive the hell out of and then sell it for what you have in it or for a profit! These trucks will always sell for more than kbb pricing because despite what they're worth, people want them so they pay more. If your truck is as clean and well taken care of as you say, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get upwards of $6k for it. As for the engine. It's the 2.7 I4 or the 3RZ motor which is a chain. If it's been well cared for, all other maintenance is to be expected. Don't sweat the belt though. For some reason Toyota thought it would be better to leave the 3.4's with belts. :/

I actually ran across this list on Craig's List and thought this price was pretty ridiculous. Nonetheless, if your truck is somewhat as clean as this, then you know that you'll be able to come around that.

A friend of mine has a shop and bought his truck from a customer. His is an 01 I believe, it's the same setup as yours, bought it with 100K on it. The girl he bought it from had come in to get it smogged and told him she was trading it in. An out of town dealer offered 5500 bucks for it. The dealer is 100 miles away. My friend offered to save her the trip and he got it for 5000 bucks.

Yours is older, but very similar shape. I see no reason why you can't get 6,000 plus for it from a private party.

My dad bought my 86 4x4 regular cab in 95 for 5500 bucks. It had 120K on it, no AC, pretty bare bones model. I figure Toyota's haven't gotten any cheaper since then.

Might take it down the a dealer and ask them to give you an offer for it, then go from there. If they offer 4500 for it, you know they are going to try and sell it for 7500.......
