Front axle

Went to clean truck today & found grease all over the front drivers side shock. Grease is slung all over. Looks to be coming from axle boot. Would this be an axle seal?? I have never had one of these front ends apart before, so Im not sure what the problem is. Also, I can move the axle up & down a good bit, is this normal? The pass. side moves a little too.

Sounds to me like your cv boot is torn. Without the grease the CV will be on it's way out. With that much of a lift it's going to eat through those boots. Check out this link http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st...-cv-boots.html and maybe it'll help, but I'm not positive with that much of a lift. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

CV fo sho. you can keep driving on it the cv's last surprisingly long with no grease. unless you want to re boot it. Then you should do it soon. i have kept my original torn ones for trail spares, and replaced with a oriellys cvs with lifetime warrantys.

Thanks for the replys. I cleaned it up yesterday & found about an inch cut in the cv boot. Bought a new axle & had it fixed in less than an hour. Pretty easy job. Thanks again for the help guys.
