Transmission fluid and filter change

Hey guys, I'm going to drop my transmission pan and change the filter and fluid now that I'm at 50,000 miles. I have the A340F. Do I need the filter assembly with a 3/8" neck or the one with a 1" neck? Does anyone have a Toyota filter part number I can reference off of?

I'm planning on using Amsoil synthetic ATF since I've heard good things about it.

it has a metal screen for the filter, i just back flush mine with a little naptha, and i have only ever taken mine off once in 200k. as for running synthetic, I have no comment about that. I drain and refill about every 20-30k while doing oil changes.

I bought a filter, which is a screen, yes, from advance auto for $25 so I figured it might be worth it. Turns out the 2001+ uses a 1" neck while the older ones use a 3/8" neck. I also got a rubber gasket with the filter instead of cork or silicone. It will definitely make the next pan drop easier.

Not sure how much fluid I will actually drain and fill but I have 10 qts just in case.

i usually have about 4.25 qts with just a drain and refill. You are going to have to start with say 4.5 and then keep adding. You have to get it hot to check the fluid level. Or what you can do is get you two 1 qt mason jars and two oil pans. measure the amount that comes out when you drain it and then measure the amount that comes out when taking the pan off that will be in one of the oil collection pan.

I got close to 6 quarts on my drain and fill. Replaced the filter and I could tell it had fine metal dust inside, which I expected. The fluid wasn't super dark but definitely dirty compared to the Amsoil.
