electrical issues

i have a 1000 watt amp drawing off of my battery and its been acting up lately, heating + post and corrosion at the terminal, ect. the wiring is already kinda weeded so im planning on replacing and upgrading the main +/- and 1 wiring my alt. anybody do this before and have any advise?
