aussie up front

i posted this on TTORA and i know alot of you hit on both forums but i figure its worth asking here too. ive always read positive things about the aussies, especially for the price. im looking to see if anyone has any experience in a similar tacoma. im running a 03 DC TRD on 33 toyo MTs, i want to run one up front but am iffy with the CV's behind that heavy of a tire. now i know selectable if the route to go, but no, im not shelling out that type of $ when a live axle is in the plans within the next couple years. thanks for any input guys

I don't have any experience with aussie but can offer a suggestion.....have 10+ years of offroading.

Manual Locking hubs.....

But since you mentioned doing a SAS in the future - why do you need or want a locker in the front now? Save your money and go without a locker in the front. Put all your $$ & efforts towards future projects.

Like any 4WD vehicle and using a locker - you have to be VERY CAREFUL when making turns in 4WD and locked to save your CV's. Even more so with a lunchbox type locker. Just not worth the benefits now when you've got a SAS on the horizon.

 

Ill second what jan said, a locker up front on ifs is dangerous and unnecissary. You will most likley max out your suspension before you max out your traction requiring 2 lockers. You should be able to get through just about anything without a front. And a front locker on that fragile ifs front end can cause damage.
