Thunking under hard braking?

I know there is another thread going right now, about a thinking, and I have read thru the entire thing, not the same as mine.

Mine ONLY comes from hard braking in forward or reverse. Moderate to easy braking nothing happens. I can't tell for certain it's coming from the front, but, that's what it sounds like?

I did new rotors, pads, and calipers, new brake hose up front. Adjusted the rears too. Made double sure everything was snugged up properly.

I don't think it's my suspension or sway bar, because it doesn't happen over any bumps or turning just hard braking.

Thoughts??

Sounds like axle wrap or a sticking drive shaft slip yoke. Very common to 1st gens.

one thought, and I may be way off base, I don't know how many miles on your truck, but one car I had that after I passed 150,00 miles, the rubber motor and trans mounts were wore out and it was thunking under hard braking.

Both of those are good suggestions, although pretty certain not axle wrap since I just had the frame replacement done in January with new leafs?

But, certainly does sound like something "shifting"...

I suppose I should look at my trans as well, I just noticed I am leaking trans fluid from my trans dipstick at the joint???

Thunking with hard brake

When u brake hard the tran fluid is forced to the rear of pan. If fluid level is low, pickup nozzle is not intact with fluid. I just went to tran. specialist, who diag the prob and I'm running fine.
