Header

I just got another Tacoma and the manifold is cracked, the cat is also bad which I expected, I figure I have to buy a cat from toyota or the code will not go away. So thats a good chunk of change. I dont want to buy another stock manifold and have it crack. Ive read on here about headers (LCE and Doug Thorley), is there any other header not so pricey that will fit without issues? Any advice on the cat or the headers is welcomed.

If you dont care about the truck passing smog, you can get rid of the cats on both sides for good. URD racing makes a chip you can plug into the sensor down there for about $120 and it feeds the correct info to your computer so there will be no check engine light. I did it on my truck and it works great. I wont ever have to replace a cat. The other option is to install an aftermarket high flow cat for the first cat in the sistem and just get rid of the others. I did this on my corolla because the cat was worn out and the aftermarket cat still kept the check engine light off. This takes some welding and what not but it was the difference of costing me $600 for the cat, or the one I installed was $85. It was a magnaflow. I also installed the dog thorley shorty headers on the tacoma and they work well. I couldn't really find any cheeper, but maybe there are some. Good luck

 

I was looking at the pacesetters but Ive heard they have fitment and leaking issues so im kind of skeptical about them.

Do you know if the URD chip sends a constant current or a varying current? My dad made a chip to try but we havent yet because we dont know if if needs to be a varying current.

I have an LCE header on my 2.7L. Its made really well, but minimal gains (which is expected on a 4 cylinder).
