Ok folks I have an 01 double cab 4x4 that I'm thinking about upgrading some horse power. I have noticed a huge drop of in power/torque in the truck lately. I do pull a 8x12 trailer with it during hunting season so want something that has more power any ideas?????

im assuming you have the v6? there are plenty of options for more power. you could supercharge it. you could swap out for a tundra engine which might be a tight fit. you could turbo. you could regear. i dont know much about any of those options other than a little bit of research on the chargers to learn how they work. Im still running a n/a 3.4 stock engine so as far as personal experiences and advice i cant help much lol

never heard of it being done to a tacoma. but Im sure its possible. you just need to find a shop (or do it yourself) to drill out the cylinders and buy the bigger pistons and sleeves. of course im sure theres more to it than just that.

What is the mileage on the truck? You said that there was a large decrease in power. I would find the cause of that before you go slap a superchager on there, especially if it has a lot of miles on it. Supercharging a truck needs to have even more modifications so it will run the best, costing lots of $$$.

The truck has 118,000 on it. I just replaced the fluids and filter in the tranny. Definatly shifts better. I'm thinking about doing a tune up with the spark plugs, wires, and coil packs. If it doesn't get any better just gonna ride it out till I get a new truck and then start going crazy with it.
