Im not sure how the anti fouler trick will work with my Tacoma I pretty sure from the YouTube videos I watched that it will only work with the screw in o2 sensor on my truck it's not screw in it is 2 screws and a gasket and the o2 sensor just drops in . What type of anti fouler will work with our trucks since we don't have screwed in sensors?

What anti-fouler are you looking at? links? I am curious why you are installing one. A properly running engine won't need such a device. Can you give some background on how this came about?

I have the p0420 code I replaced the rear o2 still have a cel so I was going to do the spark plug anti fouler trick to get rid of the cel. Will stacking maybe 4 gaskets do the same trick since tacomas don't have screw in o2 sensors

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
I don't think it will work unless it's a screw in type. I have seen many posts about using the anti-fouler, and I wondered how it could work on a Tacoma.

I think the URD o2 simulator would work better to fix more issues like exhaust leaks and worn out catalytics. It is $100 though. If you gain 1 mpg from better performance it could pay for itself in a year or less.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
The spark plug anti fouler will not work with the triangle flange type o2 sensors on the Tacomas.

As stated above, the trick only works on screw in type sensors.

Your best bet would be an o2 simulator....UNLESS you have access to equipment to properly machine out a spacer for the triangle flange. The key is slowing the reading to sensor. You could theoretically stack gaskets, but those wear out.

I also own an STi and have the spark plug anti fouler on it working flawlessly on my catless set up since day 1.

I might still try stacking gaskets just to see if it works. Will a bad cat ruin the new rear o2 sensor? Any issues a bad cat can cause I'm still getting 25-27 mpg so it's not clogged and still runs great

I don't think a bad cat will ruin an o2 sensor. The sensors get clogged or just worn out. If you motor is misfiring and kicking out soot, it could clog things up.

Why would my motor be misfiring?

Also could the front o2 sensor be bad causing the p0420 or this that not likely.

Many different possibilities: Spark plug, injector, coil, coil wire, fuel supply, fuel quality....you get the idea. A lot of stuff could cause a missfire. You can narrow it down using a spark tester and a scan tool.

No. A code p0420 is a catalytic converter efficiency code. If you have a missfire, that will cause a possible 0420. You may have already damaged your catalytic converter if you have been driving with a CEL and a missfire for a while. No amount of changing out any O2 sensor will correct a p0420. Once you have the missfire condition corrected, and the engine is running properly, then look at if the p0420 comes back. You are wasting time and money on O2 sensors that will NOT fix the problem.

Are you using any type of fuel additives?

I'm not having any miss fires truck runs great and still getting 25-27 mpg. Just have the p0420 code and wanted to get rid of it I changed the rear o2 sensor and the code still came back on. Don't hear any exhaust leaks so I'm pretty sure it's the cat.

My apologies. an earlier post of yours made me think you were asking "Why would my engine be missfiring?" My error. And yes, if engine is running good, and all else shows ok, then the P0420 means it is Cat time.

So would putting in a o2 sim and gutting the cats work fine or will that also cause problems
