OK so obviously I have a 1996 4WD Tacoma. I have searched and can't find a definite answer about them. I have the regular Sylvania Sealed beams and would like to upgrade to a brighter sealed beam that lasts. I don't want cheap ebay lighs or HIDs, I hate people who have blinding HIDs.

I have read about Silverstars burning out in a year. I am looking for some bright sealed beams that people have used. Pictures will be appreciated.

So which are the best is what I am asking.

I've always gotten the H4 hella headlamps when I had that size.

I can't recommend the Hella H4s enough. That being said, before I bought the H4s on my last two trucks, I used GE High Output sealed beams. They were around $20 for the pair at Walmart. That was awhile ago, so might be different now. They were MUCH brighter than the Sylvania Xtravisions that I also tried.

    stock, for now
Go on ebay and find the non sealed h4 lenses. There like $30ish, and you have more of a choice on brighter, better bulbs.

Hella H4's. Everything else I had in my 1997 sucked and burned out quickly.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
hey, when I got my truck last fall, one light was burned out and I did not know about the hella's, I just got a pair of the Silverstars. later when getting tires, TireRack sell them at a good price, I am going to get some before winter.

FWIW When I worked at Kragen we used to get the Silverstars returned all the time due to short lifespan. Sylvania even states that they won't be a long lasting item.

    Get roundeyes.

Go to roundeyes.com then just put in some better bumps. They arent a sealed beam but they fit. I have them and so do a few others here.

Apparently the Silverstars are susceptible to electrical fluctuations. So spikes in your electrical system can cause them to pop. Figuring that most guys on here have upgraded sound systems, auxiliary lights, winches, air compressors, etc, SS should be taboo.

I had 3 sets before I finally called it quits. You could mark your calendar for 1 year and they wouldn't make it that long.
