Sliders - guess you gotta pay to play

My one big investment will be sliders.

It seems like all said and done it will be upwards of $400 to 600 in order to get a pair installed.

I would love a pair of JLee's but can't afford them, plus shipping, plus paying someone to weld them on for me.

I live about an hour from Addicted Off Road and just spoke with Scott for a while. He says Trail Gear sliders are going to be fine for me and my wheeling. Purely based on aesthetics I like the looks of his heavy duty sliders much better, but they are overkill for my style.

So Trail Gear (chinese steel and chinese welded) are $170 + shipping to his store. Plus another $200 for him to weld them on. That's $400ish for the lowest cost I can find.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Trail Gear sliders will be fine. I love mine. I have abused them on both my Tacoma and my Cruiser. I know there are other great options out there but don't feel bad about the TG ones. They work great.

$200 to weld them to your truck is A LOT!!! IMO. Too bad you're not closer to me, I'd do it for free.

Shit dude... that's a generous offer.

I might hit up the Colorado BS thread to see if a member with skills will do it for half the price or so.

Glad to hear you endorse the TG sliders... your rig and the pics/vids of the shit you do validates this gear for sure.

X2 on the trail gear, I had them on my 4runner and they work great!

But $200 is a lot to weld them on, you should have no problem finding someone in Colorado to weld them on for half of that.

I don't have TG's sliders but I do have their front and rear bumpers and I think they make a good product. The fully assembled TG sliders will also be much easier to weld on than some of the other sliders out there. The 4XInnovations sliders I have had to be welded together (the legs to the plates and the legs to the actualt sliders) and can be a PITA. Also, check out frontier4x4's prices of TG sliders if you find someone else besides addicted offroad to weld on your sliders. I found their prices on TG stuff to be cheaper than a lot of other places.

They are.

But shipping + getting the pieces all welded together, then welded onto the truck I'm looking at a lot more than just going up to Addicted Off Road.

lol... I don't expect handouts and surely wouldn't devalue someone else's time or expertise.

They owe me nothing but I've seen unfettered generosity from members here for all sorts of things.

My rocker panel is crunched and my "body work and paint job" didn't last a year. So I have to do something about that....

But yeah, as far as bang for buck, sliders are up there.

Truthfully I probably won't have them by then, so this might work out.

Where are you moving to?

And do you weld?

Nice, welcome to Colorado (this weekend)

Of course most of it is on fire right now, but just disregard that.

I have the TG DOM sliders and they work great! I beat the hell out of them and have slammed on them multiple times. Don't skimp out and pay the extra 30 bucks for the DOM instead of HREW metal. Tg will work great for you.

Now the 200 is disturbing, that is a TOTAL rip off. If you grind down the spots on the frame before you have him weld em on it should take an hour, and an hour is not 200. I had a shop do mine and it was like 70 bucks. Go somewhere else if you are being charged any where near 200.
